I'm new to skype. Please post all the tips you have for me.
What version are you using?
What extras do you recommend?
How do you chat: phone, mic, headset?
Anyone use one of those USB to phone jack things?

i'm using skype 3.8, skype 4 is out.. but it's not that accessible yet!.
as for tips, from the top of my head, don't use skype me mode. you'll get anyone ading you tghen and there are some really strange people on skype!. be warned!
to make a call, simply go down to the name of the person and press enter. it will ring a couple of times, then hopeful they will anser. to hang up, just press escape. you can also text chat, just press the applications button and go down to start chat (just below start call). the format's just like msn, you write, they write back ( and there's a clicking sound) and then jaws will read the message. to go through past messages it's alt and the numbers 1 to 9. you can also add people to conversations, just root jaws to the pc and go across to add people to this chat.
to add someone to a call (if you're hosting the call) to begin with, go to that person's name, press applications and go down to where it says invite to confrence. if someone else is hosting the call, they will need to add the caller for you
to anser a call (when you hear the ring) on your computer, press alt c, then go down to anser. it will display all the people who are trying to call you (if you are in a call) just press enter on the person who you want to anser)
you can hang up the call (another way) hold the call and resume a call using the same menu.
there's a useful programme called skype watch, where if you have the scripts for skype you can find out who signs in, who is calling you who is requesting your details etc.
just search on google for information on skype watch

What's wrong with skype 4? I'm using it, no scripts at all, works great for me. If you don't wanna use the scripts, get SKRead. Works the same way, but no messing with script files in jaws.
I have skype 3.8 and love it. and I use jaws with the scripts and sk read as well.anyone is welcome to add me if they like it is in my profile. Thanks Kevin as far as tips hmm can't think of anny right now. and Windows has scripts that you can download from gwmicro.com and go to script central and find the scripts there. Hope this helps.
I'm satisfied with 3.8 as well. and here are some of my tips for skype and it's scripts.
1. install skype.
2. download and install skype scripts.
3. open skype and hit control shift c for recompiling the skype script.
4. go to the skype's option and enable the hotkeys. so that you can easily attend the call by alt page up and hang up by alt page down.
5. in the options, go to notifications and check the check box to notify if someone comes online/goes offline.
6. this is most important for skypewatch. for notifying if someone comes online
type the following line on the top of jaws default script manager.
use "SkypeWatch.jsb"
after typing that in the top, hit enter for a line break. also don't forget to save the modification by hitting control s. and your jaws will announce, "compile complete". which means you've done the job right. and now you can come out of it by hitting alt f4 as usual.
how to reach the default script manager in jaws.
A: hit insert f2.
B: hit s until you reach script manager and hit enter to open.
C: hit control shift D for reaching the default script manager.
